Workpackage 1 – Management
The management of the project will apply knowledge, tools and techniques to all the activities to be carried out during the project life cycle, in order to ensure the achievement of the expected results within the given constraints and resources framework. On the basis of the project Workplan management will set-up procedures and processes required to properly co-ordinate tasks and participants, ensuring the compliance with the planned effort and time scheduling.
Workpackage 2 – First Test Chip Design
WP2 aims to realise a first silicon test vehicle containing basic blocks not connected each to the others. The purpose is to evaluate their resistance to total dose radiation and single event effects before their connection in order to simplify malfunctions which can create cascading errors inside a complete device.
Workpackage 3 – First Radiation Testing Campaign
WP3 aims to perform a first testing campaign under radiations in order to evaluate the response of single blocks developed in WP2. The purpose is to evaluate the behaviour of these blocks either under total dose (TID) and single event effect (SEE) using source radiations of different partners involved in the project.
Workpackage 4 – Chip Refinement
WP4 aims to develop a second test chip containing the same blocks developed in WP2 connected one to each other and Program&Verify Algorithm with digital state machine. The purpose is to validate programming memory issues under radiation.
Workpackage 5 – Second Radiation Testing Campaign
WP5 aims to perform a second testing campaign under radiations in order to evaluate the response of Program&Verify Algorithm and basic ensembles between blocks designed in WP2 and WP4. The purpose is to evaluate the behaviour of these elements either under total dose (TID) and single event effect (SEE) using source radiations of different partners involved in WP6.
Workpackage 6 – Final chip Design
WP6 aims to develop, according to results obtained by first and second test vehicle, the final semiconductor non volatile memory with either Program&Verify and Erase&Verify Algorithm. The final device will be a 1Mbit rad hard flash memory with pin-out configuration complying ESCC ESA recommandations.
Workpackage 7 – Third Radiation Testing Campaign
WP7 aims to perform a third testing campaign under radiations in order to evaluate the behaviour of the final chip either for total dose (TID) issues and single event effects (SEE). For TID issues the final resistance value (expressed in Krad) will be validated by Gamma Ray Irradiation provided by USC while for SEE issues the final value (expressed in MeV) will be given by heavy ions provided by UJY.
Workpackage 8 — Dissemination of results
WP8 aims to disseminate knowledge gained during technical WPs (WP2-7) through conferences, workshops, tutorials and also by using modern web approach such as internet web site and on-line lessons (virtual lessons). In this WP, according to the strategy planned in WP1, IPs and patents will be considered too.
